At the Ethiopian embassy, we met a couple on the tail end of their automotive circumnavigation of Africa. They were applying for the same set of visas as us; with their end goal being France via the same Cairene route.
They had been through Sudan already, and we had been through the Kenyan desert. We eagerly exchanged advice and anecdotes. And boosted each other’s morale when told our stamps wouldn’t be ready until the afternoon.
